FRIDAYS!
FRIDAYS!
FRIDAYS!
Who could ask for anything more? Fridays signify the end of a work week, the end of a long work week in which most hard working Americans had to get up early each morning, shower, eat, get families ready, and go to a job. Fridays also signify the beginning of the WEEKEND! A time to sleep in for two days in a row, lay around into the late morning, hang out in the yard, take sunday drives, eat big fattening breakfasts. All this of course, if you are not a mother of an infant or toddler. In the case of being a mother to one or more of these small, precious beings, you must get up early anyway, possibly earlier than usual. You might make a big breakfast, which everyone else will eat cold because they all slept too late to enjoy it with you and the little "being". You will certainly eat breakfast at the table, not in bed. The only things that will remind you that it is actually the weekend are; 1) when you go to run errands, some places you want to go are closed. 2) there is church on Sunday. Church may be your only respite, and if you never looked forward to taking on the treadmill at the gym, you might consider it now just for a chance to get out of the house alone. Such is my life. My husband hasn't put two and two together yet, but I am having a very rigorous and sweaty affair with the treadmill and bike at the Coast Guard gym. I wouldn't go so far as to say I love them, but hey, they can be good company. They help me feel better about myself, and make me see what I am capable of.
Oh yeah, one more reason I might be reminded that it's a Friday night is friends will be talking about how they have big wonderful plans to go out, dance, hit a few parties, etc...I see it every Thursday/Friday on Facebook. Peoples comments lead me to reminisce about my life before children. Not necessarily miss it, but remember fondly the Fridays I did get to dance, and stay up as late as I wanted because I didn't need to get up for anyone the next day!!!
All in all Fridays are a favorite for many people. I even still enjoy them most of the time. They're not like they used to be, but in many ways they are better. I couldn't ask for anything better than my family. All that I did and stood for when I was younger led me to this place I am at now in my life. /Like the song says, Every road I took led me to you. or to this place I'm at now. We go down the roads we are meant to, after all, it's our own choices that lead us down those roads. Just like all weekdays lead to Friday. Thank goodness for weekdays right? And Thank Goodness for FRIDAYS...
